A sample of ideal gas must contain at least N 106 moleculesin order for the Maxwell distribution to be a valid descriptionof the gas, and to assign it a meaningful temperature. Foran ideal gas at STP, what is the smallest length scale (volume V = 3) for which a valid temperature can beassigned?
