From Figure 3.57, the magnitude of the \({V_{tot}}\) is 6.72 m/s, and the angle made with the x-axis is,

\(\theta  = 22.5^\circ  + 26.5^\circ \)

\(\theta  = 49^\circ \)

Now, we resolve the total velocity \({V_{tot}}\) into x  and y components as,

\({V_{tot,x}} = {V_{tot}}\cos \theta \)

\({V_{tot,y}} = {V_{tot}}\sin \theta\)
