The orderly patterns of motion in our solar system can be summarised as follows;
All the planets including larger moons and Sun orbit and rotate in a organized manner. The eight planets are divided clearly into two groups; small rocky planets that are close to the Sun and large gas rich planets that are farther from the Sun.
In between and beyond the planets,vast number of asteroids and orbit the Sun; some are large enough to be termed as dwarf planets and composition of these asteroids and comets follow a distinct pattern.
