The shift register of Figure 12-10 can be made to shift to the left by adding external connections between the Q outputs and D inputs. Draw a block diagram like the one in Figure 12-10(a) and indicate the appropriate connections. Which input line would serve as a serial input in this case? With the connections you have made, what should Sh and L be for a left shift? For a right shift?
