Problem 164SE
Light output of a bulb. A firm that has developed anew type of lightbulb is interested in evaluating its performance in order to decide whether to market it. It isknown that the light output of the bulb depends on thecleanliness of its surface area and the length of time thebulb has been in operation. Use the data in the next tableand the procedures you learned in this chapter to build aregression model that relates drop in light output to bulbsurface cleanliness and length of operation. Be sure toconduct a residual analysis also.

ANSWER:
Step 1 of 4
Now compute the required regression analysis using MINITAB by following the instructions:
First code the surface with 0 and 1 for C and D, then perform the regression analysis.
1. Type or import the data into five columns.
2. Click Stat, Regression, and Regression…
3. Type the name of the dependent variable in the Response box (Drop) and the name of
the independent variable in the Predictors box (Surface, length).
4. Click Graphs…Select Four in one. In addition specify the x variables in box
Residuals verses variables.
5. Click Results and choose In addition full table fits and residuals.
5. Click OK.
