Chapter 0, Problem SE.13

(choose chapter or problem)

[15 10] Largemouth bass were studied in 53 different Florida lakes to examine the factors that influence the level of mercury contamination. The average mercury concentration (parts per million) in the muscle tissue of the fish sampled from the lakes are as follows: 1.23 7 6 0.44 12 14 10 0.19 0.83 12 12 12 7 5.8 11 10 40 6 10 0.98 12 0.56 12 0.73 0.34 0.59 0.34 8 0.5 0.34 10 10 0.87 0.56 0.17 13 0.19 4 12 10 14 0.10 10 12 12 12 0.65 0.27 10 0.40 11 12 12 a. Construct a frequency distribution and histogram of the data using class boundaries 0, 4, 8, and 12. Lump all the observations above 12 into a single category. b. The cumulative frequency for a particular class interval is the sum of frequencies for that interval and all intervals lying below it. Compute the cumulative frequencies for the same data with the same class definitions.
