Chapter 4, Problem 4.130

(choose chapter or problem)

A chemical engineer determines the mass percent of iron in an ore sample by converting the Fe to Fe21 in acid and then titrating the Fe21 with MnO4 2. A 1.1081-g sample was dissolved in acid and then titrated with 39.32 mL of 0.03190 M KMnO4. The balanced equation is 8H1(aq) 1 5Fe21(aq) 1 MnO4 2(aq) - 5Fe31(aq) 1 Mn21(aq) 1 4H2O(l) Calculate the mass percent of iron in the ore.
