QUESTION:

Identify pairs of enantiomers, diastereomers, and meso compounds, and explain how they differ in their physical and chemical properties.

ANSWER:

Step 1 of 5

Enantiomers, diastereomers, meso compounds

The enantiomers are nonsuperimposable mirror images of the compounds to each other. The diastereomers are the compounds that differ in the stereochemistry of one chiral centre out of two. The meso compounds are those that can be suitably cleaved into equal halves.
