Your first project is to analyze the forces that the water will exert on the vertical back face of the dam when the lake is full (that is, 40 yd deep). Assume the water density, k, is in pounds per cubic yard. a. Write an equation for the pressure in terms of y. b. Find the area of the dams back face. c. Find the force exerted by the water on the back face of the dam. d. Find the first moment of this force with respect to the x-axis. e. Find the center of pressure. This is the point on the back face at which the entire force could be concentrated to produce the same first moment with respect to the x-axis.
