QUESTION:

Clearly distinguish between science and technology.

ANSWER:

Solution 19RQ Introduction The terms Science and Technology are sometimes seem to be similar. But, these two terms are different while considering their scopes and applications. There are so many differences and similarities between these two terms. Step 1 Similarities between Science and Technology The word “Science” is derived from the latin word “scientia” meaning “knowledge”. So, science gives us the systematic and structured knowledge about a phenomena or process with proof. The scientific knowledge will be always supported by strong and solid proofs. Any argument or statement without the support of proof cannot be considered as scientific. The word “technology” is derived from the greek words “techne” and “logos”. “Techne” means art, skill or craft. “Logos” means “expression”. As a whole, technology is “expressing a thing through art, skill or craft”. So, a particular object or idea is expressed practically by the help of technology. In order to express the knowledge practically, the knowledge about it should be purely scientific in nature. So, technology can be considered as the application of science.
