From their data, the following Arrhenius parameters can be obtained: A/(dm3 mol1 s1) Ea/(kJ mol1) CH4 + OHCH3 + H2O 1.13 109 14.1 CD4 + OHCD3 + DOH 6.0 108 17.5 CH4 + ODCH3 + DOH 1.01 109 13.6 Compute the rate constants at 298 K, and interpret the kinetic isotope effects.
