QUESTION:

Problem 18CQ

a. Between 0 and 1.50

b. Between 0 and −1.25

c. Between 1.56 and 1.96

d. Between −1.20 and −2.25

f. Between 1.10 and −1.80

g.To the right of z = 1.75

h. To the right of z = −1.28

i. To the left of z = −2.12

j. To the left of z = 1.36

ANSWER:

Solution:

Step 1 of 10:

  1. The claim is to find the area under the standard normal distribution between 0 and 1.50.

We have the z-scores z = 0 and z = 1.50

Then P(0 < z < 1.50) = P(z < 1.50) - P(z < 0)

                                  = -

(In the area under normal curve we have to see in  row 1.5 under column 0.00).

(In the area under normal curve we have to see in a row 0.0 under column 0.00).

Then  P(0 < z < 1.50) = 0.9332 - 0.5000

                                  = 0.4332.

Hence, P(0 < z < 1.50) = 0.4332.
