Promotional Coupon An office supply store desires to increase sales of its store brand toner cartridges over its sales of less profitable name brand cartridges. To do so, it mass mails a sales flyer to its entire database of current customers. Each flyer contains a personalized coupon for $30 off the purchase of any store brand toner cartridge. Of its current customers, 24% have previously purchased store brand cartridges. From past experience, store management knows that about 46% of customers who have made a previous purchase of an item will redeem a coupon for that item. Management also knows that about 15% of personalized coupons are redeemed. (a) If a redeemed coupon is selected at random, what is the probability that it was used by a customer who had previously purchased a store brand cartridge? (b) If a customer who has not previously purchased a store brand toner cartridge is randomly selected, what is the probability that he or she will redeem the personalized promotional coupon?
