QUESTION:

Find the ratios (greater to smaller) of the

(a) intensities,

(b) pressure amplitudes, and

(c) particle displacement amplitudes for two sounds whose sound levels differ by 37 dB.

ANSWER:

Step 1 of 4

Two sound has their levels differ by 37dB. We are asked to find the ratios of the intensities, pressure amplitudes and particle displacement amplitudes of the two sounds.

Let us term the sounds as A and B.

The difference between the sound levels is given by \(\Delta \beta_{A B}\)

We know that,

\(\Delta \beta_{A B}=\beta_{A}-\beta_{B}\)
