Study Packet # 5 Gas Laws Kinetic Molecular Theory of Gases To understand the physical properties of gases, we need a model that helps us picture what happens to gas particles as experimental conditions such as temperature and pressure change. The model is known as the Kinetic Molecular Theory of Gases. 1. Gases consist of a large number of particles (molecules or atoms) that are in constant random motion. 2. The volume of the particles themselves is negligible compared to the total volume of the gas. (Most of the volume is empty space.) 3. The gas particles act independently of one another. There are no attractive or repulsive forces between them. 4. Collisions of the gas particles, either
