(a) The product of a reaction between a Lewis acid and a Lewis base is called an adduct.

In a Lewis acid-base reaction, a Lewis acid accepts a pair of electrons from a Lewis base, forming a covalent bond between the two species. The resulting compound, or adduct, has new chemical and physical properties that are different from the original acid and base.
