QUESTION: What is a CER? Provide examples of positive and negative CERs.

ANSWER:

Step 1 of 2

CER stands for Conditional Emotional Response, which refers to an emotional or affective response elicited by a conditioned stimulus (CS) due to its association with an unconditioned stimulus (US) in classical conditioning. In classical conditioning, a neutral stimulus (CS) becomes associated with an unconditioned stimulus (US), naturally eliciting an emotional or affective response. Over time, the CS alone can elicit a similar emotional response called a CER.
