What is the role of “loose” electrons in heat conductors?
Solution 1RQ In a substance there could be number of free electrons which are free to move. Basically metals contain a huge number of free electrons which participate in the process of conduction of electricity and heat. When one end of a metallic bar gets heated, the heat gets transferred to the other end by the process of conduction. The loose electrons or free electrons are there to make the heat and electricity conduction possible. That’s why in metals the conduction occurs easily and in nonmetals it’s difficult.
