Chapter 25 Problem 23RCQ

Question

Self-Induction

When the magnetic field changes in a coil of wire, voltage in each loop of the coil is induced. Will voltage be induced in a loop if the source of the magnetic field is the coil itself?

Solution

Step 1 of 2

Electromagnetic induction is the process by which a voltage is induced in a conductor when the magnetic field around it changes. This can happen when the conductor is stationary and the magnetic field changes, or when the conductor is moving through a stationary magnetic field.
