Chapter 12, Problem 12.79

(choose chapter or problem)

Air at \(80^{\circ} \mathrm{F}\), 1 atm, and 70% relative humidity enters a dehumidifier operating at steady state with a mass flow rate of 1 lb/s. Saturated moist air and condensate exit in separate streams, each at \(50^{\circ} \mathrm{F}\). Neglecting kinetic and potential energy effects, determine

(a) the rate of heat transfer from the moist air, in tons.

(b) the rate water is condensed, in lb/s.

(c) Check your answers using data from the psychrometric chart.

(d) Check your answers using Interactive Thermodynamics: IT.
