Problem 16

Acapacitor has an rms current of 21 mAat a frequency of 60.0 Hz when the rms voltage across it is 14 V. (a)What is the capacitance of this capacitor? (b)If the frequency is increased, will the current in the capacitor increase, decrease, or stay the same? Explain.(c)Find the rms current in this capacitor at a frequency of 410 Hz.

Step-by-Step Solution:
Step 1 of 3

Brooke Bell 10/29/12 Paper 2 WAC 101 Why do People get Tattoos Tattoos are a major social trend in today’s society, and they keep becoming more popular as time goes on. Whether it was just for fun, or for religious, spiritual reason, people will suffer through the pain to get tatted up. Some people just get one small tattoo, but some people go as far as covering up their entire body, even tattooing their face! My question today is, why do people have to put pictures or words permanently on their body, why can’t they just put it on paper or a shirt With tattoos its hard to get a job, people do it to rebel and change their appearance, and some people do it for symbolic reasons. Society has very mixed feelings about tattoos. The job market here in America is becoming more competitive by the day and to get a job is becoming harder and harder. Most to all employers want their employees to look presentable and very clean cut. No one wants to hire an individual tattooed from head to toe to work for a multimillion dollar company simply because it look trashy and cheap. They want their employees to best represent their company as well as possible. But, why are so many people getting tattoos when they know in the back of their mind that it will jut make it harder for them to get a job, or keep the job they already have. From the looks of it, the economy isn’t getting any better anytime soon, so you would think that people would come to their senses and realize that having obnoxious tattoos isn’t going to help them get a job whatsoever. Especially for women, because business attire might sometimes have them show their arms and legs, in which it would be extremely hard to cover up the tattoos. For men, they have it a little easier when it comes to covering them up for work. Most of the time, in a business setting, they would wear long pants and long sleeves. People get tattoos to rebel or change their appearance. Most teenagers think that tattoos are cool and since many people are getting them, they should get one too. I personally don’t think that teens realize that once they get the tattoo, it is there for life. Even getting the tattoo removed, there will still be a scar. People rebel against society and get tattoos to show that they don’t care what other people think of them. I don’t understand why people get things tattooed on their body, when they could simply have the object on a piece of paper. Some people think is it art, but art can also be hung up on the wall instead of on your body for life. Although many people have tattoos, most employers won’t hire someone who is covered in tattoo, which makes me wonder why people still think its cool to have their whole body covered. Last time I checked, having a steady job and being financially stable is cool, and more beneficial than being tatted up. Tattoos are also very expensive, and I don’t know where these people find all the money to cover their whole bodies, when they most likely won’t have a high paying job. Not only does it cost a lot to get the tattoo, but also people have to go back and get the tattoos touched up to keep them looking nice. Also, there are some people who have also completely transformed the way they look with tattoos. For example, one man got scales tattooed all over his body, and got his tongue split down the middle so he could look like a lizard. This shows that people are rebelling against society and what society expects people to look like. They don’t agree with having to look like everyone else, so they think that getting a tattoo, or changing their whole experience will show the world that they don’t care if they stick out of the crowd. I think that everyone was born just fine, and having tattoos to modify themselves is extremely unnecessary and they will most likely regret it one day. Another reason why people get tattoos now a day is for symbolic reasons. Pamela Anderson once said, “tattoos are like stories – they’re symbolic of important moments in your life. Sitting down, talking about where you got each tattoo and what it symbolizes is really beautiful.” People get tattoos to show that they have overcome something in their life that was a struggle for them. Getting words tattooed that mean something significant in someone’s life has become a popular trend. Also some people get tattoos in memory of people who have died. I have friends that have tattoos for people who have died like grandparents or friends. My friend who got a tattoo because her father died, so she got a tattoo of her fathers face and her favorite saying her dad used to tell her. To me, this is a nice gesture to the person who has died, but its not exactly necessary, simply because the person who died will never see the tattoo. People say though, that the tattoo is for personal reasons only. In my opinion, I think it would be more beneficial to donate money to a charity or cause to help find research of why the person died, instead of spending the money on the tattoo. If you couldn’t tell, tattoos aren’t exactly my thing. I don’t think I will ever get a tattoo no matter what the circumstances are, but majorities of people in today’s society have tattoos. It seems to be an obsession and people feel the need to get one to fit in with the crowd. Who knows, maybe in the future it will be unusual for people to not have tattoos because of how popular they are becoming.
