Chapter 1 Problem 6

Question

Problem 6CQ

Can the validity of a model be limited, or must it be universally valid? How does this compare to the required validity of a theory or a law?

Solution

Solution 6CQ

Step 1 of 3

A model is the display or representation of a system, which is very difficult to visualize directly. It will be useful to realize the outline of the system and to perform certain calculations. One of the examples for the model is Bohr’s atomic model.

The theories represent the hypothesis, which are phenomenon of the different process in nature and supported by the proof related to them, verified by the various researchers several number of times.

Whereas laws are supported by the scientific evidence given by the experimental results. The law is a generalized statement which is consistent with the process in nature.
