Figure Ex 16.9 is the snapshot graph at \(t\) = \(0\) \(s\) of a longitudinal wave. Draw the corresponding picture of the particle positions, as was done in Figure 16.9b. Let the equilibrium spacing between the particles be \(1.0 \text { cm }\).

We need to follow these steps:

1. Draw a series of equally spaced vertical lines to represent the equilibrium positions of particles before the wave arrives.

2. Use information from the graph to displace the particles in the medium to the right or left

3. The wave propagates to the right at 1.0 cm/s.
