Chapter 31 Problem 31.48

Question

A Low-Pass Filter. Figure P31.48 shows a low-pass filter (see 31.47); the output voltage is taken across the capacitor in an L-R-C series circuit. Derive an expression for Vout>Vs, the ratio of the output and source voltage amplitudes, as a function of the angular frequency v of the source. Show that when v is large, this ratio is proportional to v-2 and thus is very small, and show that the ratio approaches unity in the limit of small frequency.

Solution

Step 1 of 7)

The first step in solving 31 problem number 67 trying to solve the problem we have to refer to the textbook question: A Low-Pass Filter.
From the textbook chapter Alternating Current you will find a few key concepts needed to solve this.
