According to the quantum-mechanical model for the hydrogen atom, which electron transitions would produce light with the longer wavelength:

Solution Step 1 The reactivity of metals depends on the tendency to lose electrons since electrons are the ones that take part in chemical reactions. Metals like Ca and Mg are generally electropositive in nature. Greater the electro positivity of the metal means greater is the tendency to donate electrons and greater would be the reactivity. Step 2 (a)Ca comes below Mg in the 2nd column of the periodic table. As we go down a group size increases resulting in an increase in electropositive nature. When electropositive nature increases reactivity also increases.
