We have to calculate heat capacity of the metal.

The heat capacity can be calculated as S or C or Cs =

Here q = 58J, m = 28g and T = T2-T1 = 39.9- 31.1= 8.8°C

Now the above equation becomes S =  

                                          = = 0.235 j/g oC

Thus the heat capacity of the unknown metal is 0.235j/g oC, this value is found to be similar with the heat capacity of silver.
