Chapter 7 Problem 38

Question

 Problem 38PE

(a) How long will it take an 850-kg car with a useful power output of 40.0 hp (1 hp = 746 W) to reach a speed of 15.0 m/ s, neglecting friction? (b) How long will this acceleration take if the car also climbs a 3.00-m-high hill in the process?

Solution

Step 1 of 3

First calculate the time required to accelerate a car with mass 850 kg and power output 40.0 hp from zero to 15 m/s.

Then calculate the time required for the car to climb 3.00 m height.

Ignore the friction in all this case.
