QUESTION:

State whether silicon would form n-type or p-type semiconductors with the following elements: Ga, Sb, Al, As.

ANSWER:

Step 1 of 2

n- type semiconductors:

An intrinsic semiconductor called an n-type semiconductor is doped with impurities such as phosphorus (P), arsenic (As), or antimony (Sb). Group IV's silicon has four valence electrons, while Group V's phosphorus has five.

P-type semiconductors:

An intrinsic semiconductor doped with boron (B) or indium is known as a p-type semiconductor (In). Boron from Group III has three valence electrons, while silicon from Group IV has four.
