Chapter 23 Problem 3E

Question

Problem 3E

Consider a circuit with a main wire that branches into two other wires. If the current is 10 A in the main wire and 4 A in one of the branches, how much current is in the other branch?

Solution

Answer : According to kirchhoff's first law

                 Total current (I) entering = Current leaving the junction

                                                      I = I1 + I2

                So if

                   Current in one of the wire I1 = 4 A then,

                 We can say,

                                         10 A = 4A + 6A

               So the current flowing through the other wire is 6A
