Question

The screw eye is subjected to the two forces shown. Express each force in Cartesian vector form and then determine the resultant force. Find the magnitude and coordinate direction angles of the resultant force.

Transform each force to the Cartesian vector which is  and  component of the forces. Note that positive values are those with rightward, forward and upward directions while leftward, backward and downward directions are negative.

Solve for the resultant and its angles using the free-body diagram below:
