(a) Which color of light has the higher frequency, red or violet? (b) Calculate the frequency of blue light with a wavelength of 470 nm, and red light with a wavelength of 680 nm.

(a)  We know that the frequency varies inversely with wavelength, so that a shorter wavelength corresponds to a higher frequency.

Wavelength of violet light is shorter than that for red light, so we can conclude violet light has the higher frequency
