(b) Choose the best explanation from among the following:
The transmitted intensity is the same in either case; the first polarizer lets through one-half the incident intensity, and the second polarizer is at an angle \(\theta\) relative to the first.
Case A has a smaller transmitted intensity than case B because the first polarizer is at an angle \(\theta\) relative to the incident beam.
Case B has a smaller transmitted intensity than case A because the direction of polarization is rotated by an angle \(\theta\) in the clockwise direction in case B.
