The instantaneous speed of the object is equal to the magnitude of the instantaneous velocity.  The speedometer of the moving objects show the instantaneous speed and magnitude of the instantaneous velocity.

Note: Motion on a straight road in the same direction, the distance and displacement are the same so velocity and speed are the same.
