Suppose the string in the exercise 1 breaks and the stone slows in its upward motion. Draw a force vector diagram of the stone when it reaches the top of its path.

Step 1 :

When the string is broken , the velocity of the rock will at that point becomes zero,  that is the rocks instantaneous velocity will becomes zero

Hence the only force acting upon the rock will be the acceleration force exerted by the gravity pointed downwards
